A Model for Teacher Development to Enhance Student Quality in the 21st Century at Kuchinarai Municipality School

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) study the current and desired conditions for teacher development to enhance student quality in the 21st century, 2) develop a model for teacher development to enhance student quality in the 21st century at Kuchinarai Municipality School, 3) implement the teacher development model to enhance student quality in the 21st century at Kuchinarai Municipality School, and 4) evaluate and validate the teacher development model to enhance student quality in the 21st century at Kuchinarai Municipality School. This study employed a research and development approach. The target group consisted of 30 teachers who were teaching at Kuchinarai Municipality School in the first semester of the 2024 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. The sample group comprised 276 students from Grades 1-6 at Kuchinarai Municipality School who were studying in the 2024 academic year, selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments included questionnaires, evaluation forms, and tests. Data were analyzed using means, standard deviations, and content analysis. The research findings revealed that: 1) the current condition of teacher development was at a high level, the desired condition was at the highest level, with PNIModified values ranging from 0.23-0.25, where the aspect requiring the most development was 21st-century learning design (PNIModified = 0.25); 2) the teacher development model comprised five components: principles, objectives, processes, outputs, and feedback; 3) the implementation results showed that teachers perceived the model's appropriateness at the highest level, student achievement passing the 80% criterion accounted for 85.86%, and both students and teachers expressed satisfaction with learning management at the highest level; and 4) the evaluation and validation results by experts indicated the model was at a high level of appropriateness.
