Abstract
The purposes of this research were: 1) to develop basic thinking skills and 2) to develop learning achievement of grade 3 students who were studying in the second semester of the academic year 2015 at the Demonstration school of Khon Kaen University (Primary Level) (Suksasart). The students’ scores of both indicated tests were set to pass the condition that at least 70 percent of the students should gain at least 70 percent of the total scores.
The research instruments comprised 1) tool for conducting the research, including six Open approach lesson plans and 2) tools for obtaining the research findings, including basic thinking skills test and learning achievement test.
This research employed One-shot case study design. The quantitative data were analyzed by calculating means and percentages of the scores gained from basic thinking skills test and learning achievement test.
The research findings:
- The students’ average basic thinking skills scores were 80.13 and 87.18 percent obtained at least 70 percent of the total scores which were higher than the prescribed criteria: 70/70.
- The students’ average learning achievement scores were 81.28 and 84.62 percent obtained at least 70 percent of the total scores which were higher than the prescribed criteria: 70/70.
