Journal Policy and Focus & Scope

The Journal of Education, Khon Kaen University (EDKKUJ) is the official flagship academic journal published under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University. The journal serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge in educational research and development as well as related interdisciplinary fields. It is intended for educators, researchers, developers, and practitioners.

EDKKUJ publishes scholarly works in the fields of education and educational information that contribute to the enhancement and development of educational quality. All submissions undergo a rigorous selection and quality evaluation process in accordance with international standards for academic journals.

Manuscript Categories

The Journal of Education, Khon Kaen University (EDKKUJ) welcomes a variety of scholarly manuscript types for publication as follows:

1. Editorial

Description:
This type of academic writing presents perspectives or opinions authored by the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, Guest Editors for special issues, or invited scholars/researchers whose works are recommended for publication by the editorial team. Editorials aim to present valuable concepts and viewpoints that foster scholarly dialogue and knowledge exchange within the research community.

2. Commentary

Description:
A commentary discusses a particular issue related to education or teaching and learning that is of interest to the author. It is based on the author’s personal perspectives and opinions, with the objective of stimulating intellectual discussion and the exchange of diverse viewpoints.

3. Communication

Description:
This type of article presents updates on newly emerging findings or extensions of new study topics that build upon previously published research articles, technical articles, or review articles. The manuscript should emphasize noteworthy updates, contributions to academic advancement, and clearly demonstrate originality or novel insights that differ from previously published work.

4. Letter

Description:
A letter is a short article intended to allow readers who have read articles published in the journal to present professional and scholarly comments or responses to a specific published article, with the aim of advancing academic discourse. Such responses must be constructive and non-confrontational.
In addition, authors whose articles have received comments or responses may submit a letter to clarify, explain, or respond to the viewpoints presented in the letter.

5. Review Article

Description:
A review article critically evaluates the current state of knowledge in a specific academic field. It involves comprehensive analysis and synthesis of up-to-date literature or previously published research from reliable academic sources. The article should provide critical insights, highlight emerging trends, and suggest directions for future research and development.

6. Research Article

Description:
A research article reports the results of original research studies related to education or teaching and learning. The research may focus on specific subject areas, learner groups, educational levels, or interdisciplinary fields that are connected to educational studies.

7. Technical Article

Description:
Technical articles may be categorized as follows:

7.1

Articles that present or explain innovative or previously unexplored concepts or approaches in educational management, instructional practices for specific subject content in classroom or non-classroom contexts, contemporary technical strategies or learning management methods, or outcomes of projects involving educational innovations or instructional design for specific courses.

7.2

Articles that demonstrate best practices in teaching or learning for specific content or concepts aligned with contemporary instructional strategies. These articles should clearly and concretely illustrate the instructional or learning context so that readers can readily visualize the practices described.

7.3

Articles that describe learning experiences derived from instructional activities within educational contexts ranging from early childhood education to higher education. These experiences may occur in classrooms, laboratories, or informal learning environments outside school settings. The learning experiences must have been implemented with learners and should include reported evaluations of learning outcomes to demonstrate their value and applicability.

7.4

Articles that demonstrate and explain academic electronic or digital media, such as websites, specialized software, multimedia, applications, or various technologies developed to support education, instructional practice, or learning processes. Such technologies must have been used with learners and should include reported evaluations of learning outcomes to demonstrate their effectiveness and value for further application.

Manuscript Language

The Journal of Education, Khon Kaen University (EDKKUJ) accepts manuscripts for publication in both Thai and English.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted through the EDKKUJ electronic submission system undergo an initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief to ensure alignment with the journal’s policies, scope, and minimum academic quality standards. Manuscripts that pass this preliminary screening are then sent to at least three internal or external expert reviewers for evaluation.

The review process follows a double-blind peer review, in which neither the reviewers nor the authors are aware of each other’s identities.

Publication Frequency

EDKKUJ is published quarterly, with four issues per year:

  • Issue 1: January – March

  • Issue 2: April – June

  • Issue 3: July – September

  • Issue 4: October – December

EDKKUJ is committed to publishing scholarly articles under an open access model, allowing readers unrestricted access without any access or usage limitations. This policy aims to maximize the dissemination of knowledge and promote the development of a more open and inclusive academic community.
