Managing the science and technology park to become a knowledge-based economic park: one mission of Thai higher education institutions

The objectives of this research are to study the management of Science and Technology Park in foreign countries that support the roles of higher education institutions; to study the manage for information technology and innovation of higher education institutions in Thailand; and, to develop a model of a Knowledge Based Economic Park for higher education institutions in Thailand. The methodologies of this research are as follows: collect data from a sample of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge University, Kyoto University, and National University of Singapore; and, administrators of public and private higher education institutions at faculties, colleges, institutes of 13 public and private higher education institutions in Thailand. The results of this research are as follows: 1. The management of the Science and Technology Park in foreign countries supports the roles and responsibilities of higher education institutions. In line with the missions of higher education institutions in teaching, research and academic services; as well as the role of higher education institutions for research in the development of economic, social and national institutions. 2. Management of information technology and innovation that leads to a Knowledge Based Economic Park of higher education Institute. Study in Thailand found that the National Research Universities have the highest demand for information technology and innovation leading to a Knowledge Base Economy Park. Followed by public university; and, private university. The Science and Technology Park is a research management in science and technology and social sciences and humanities of higher education institutions. Knowledge is a significant base of research management in terms of value add. The transition into a Knowledge Based Economic Park therefore covers the characteristics of a knowledge based research settlement. Corresponding to the body of knowledge in various fields and research disciplines; as well as maintaining the supporting role of higher education institutions.
