School Administration and Management in the Construction of Public Relationship between Adjacent Communities and Multinational Schools under the Supervision of the Primary Educational Service Area Office of Samut Sakhon Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1. study the level of building the relationship between adjacent multinational communities and the schools under the supervision of the Primary Educational Service Area Office of Samut Sakhon Province and 2. compare the level of building the relationship between adjacent multinational communities and the schools under the supervision of the Primary Educational Service Area Office of Samut Sakhon Province according to the opinions of the two sample groups. The data were according to the informants’ status and duties. Samples Comprised 137 school administrators and teachers and 288 parents and relevant community persons. Mixed research methods were used; both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. For quantitative data’s tools, the questionnaires with rating scales were employed. The questionnaire reliability was .95. For qualitative data’s tools, the interview forms were used. Statistical analyses used were percentages, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. Inductive method was used for qualitative data. The findings from quantitative analysis were as followed: 1. the overall level of school administration focusing on building the relationships between the schools and adjacent multinational communities under the Primary Educational Service Area Office of Samut Sakhon Province was at average. Data means arranged from high to low were activities for building the relationship between schools and communities, communication, opportunity for communities to engage in student learning respectively; 2. comparing the administration in term of building relationship between the schools and adjacent multinationalities communities under the Primary Educational Service Area Office of Samut Sakhon Province overall findings indicated opinions between personnel inside the schools and people outside the schools were different statistically at .05 level of significance. Personnel outside the schools had higher opinions on building relationship than personnel inside the schools. From analyzing the qualitative data, the averages items from high to low were as followed: 1. activities for building relationship between schools and communities, providing opportunities for personnel outside the schools to ask and learn about problems and behaviors of students, 2. personnel outside the schools used his/her native language, thus, translators were needed, and 3. providing opportunity for communities to participate in learning management since personnel had some opportunities to become guest lecturers sometimes such as teaching the Mon language.
