The Business of Small Firms Using the Internet in Northeastern Thailand

Abstract
The study on the business of small firms using the Internet in Northeastern Thailand was important. It found the factors of both the resources using the Internet and the resources not using the Internet. They influence the competitive performance of small firms in Northeastern Thailand. The study employed the statistics of the National Statistics Office during 2012 to 2014. The data were collected by in-depth interviews with 35 small firms. A selection criterion included small firms with a staff of 1-9 people and equipped with broadband Internet. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The results from both theoretical and phenomena of the factors affecting the competitive performance of small firms using the Internet in Northeastern included the resources of using and not using the Internet. The use of Internet resources included physical resources, human resources, and organization resources. Resources were not related to the use of Internet included characteristics of small firms such as the type of firm, number of employees and location, and the external environment of small firms using the Internet such as customers, network, Internet service providers (ISP), competitors and the government.
