Cultural Entrepreneur’s Competences in 21st Century

Abstract
The objective of this research article is to explore the prominent competencies of cultural entrepreneurs in the 21st century. By examining the lessons learned from ten successful cultural entrepreneurs, the paper analyzes and synthesizes those lessons learned to comprehend the competencies and the elements used during their operations. It was found that successful cultural entrepreneurs possess nine prominent competencies: (1) customer comprehension; (2) local wisdom appreciation; (3) material selection; (4) finance; (5) human resources; (6) innovative design; (7) production and service; (8) value creation and value communication; and (9) business administration and leadership. The paper also shows that the cultural entrepreneurs’ competencies can be classified into two aspects and elements – “mental competencies” including recognition, feeling, knowledge and thinking; and “physical competencies”. The synthesis of each competency’s elements and a model of the connection and flow of the cultural entrepreneurs’ competencies in the 21st century are presented.
