The cost and benefit from tilapia farming in the cage along the Mekhong river in Nong Khai province were studied from 108 farm owners using questionnaire. The results revealed that 90 farm owners have suffered from losses. The average annual production cost was 12,755.40 baht/m2, which was mainly from the feed expenses (75.02 %). Considering only the farmers who received profits, the medium farms showed highest capability of management to create benefit from investment among other sizes. Thus, farm owners should be cooperated as cooperation network for feed negotiation and production in order to reduce the production cost. Moreover, processing dead fish from fluctuation of water level in river level should be promoted for adding value and reducing loss.
