The Speech Acts of the Word ‘COVID-19’ in Online Media: Types and Meanings

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to investigate and to analyze the massages with the word ‘COVID-19 appeared in online media, according to the types and the meanings of the speech acts. The results of the research revealed that there were 3 types of the speech acts. That is, 44 Representative were found, which accounted for 44 % of the total massages; 28 Expressives 28 % and 28 Directives 28 %. In terms of meanings of the speech acts, the results demonstrated that there were 6 groups of the meaning. It was found that most of the massages 70 %, were in the meaning of love, and 14 %, were about medication, 6 %, were about politics. Additionally, there were 4 % of the massage concerning with social and culture. The Lest of the massage 3%, Involved in economy and songs.
