The Development of Computer Assisted Instruction with MACRO Model to Enhance the Reading Comprehension Ability for Grade 4 Students

Abstract

This research aimed 1) to develop the computer assisted instruction with MACRO model for enhancing the reading comprehension skill for grade 4 students to accomplish 80/80 percentages of point average following the criterion (E1/E2), 2) to compare the learning achievement of grade 4 students regarding the reading comprehension skill before and after using the tool, the computer assisted instruction with MACRO model. The sample collected by using purposive samplings method was the grade 10 students during the first semester in Thessaban 5 school (WatBoonRueang). The research instruments included 1) 5 units of the computer assisted instruction with MACRO model for enhancing the reading comprehension skill for grade 4 students: Way to understand the reading comprehension, Reading the articles, Reading the tales, Reading the poetries or verses and Reading the folk tales, and 2) the number of 10 points of the developmental testing tool concerning the reading comprehension for grade 4 students which was used to determine the learning achievement. The research findings were as follows: 1) the efficiency of the computer assisted instruction with MACRO model for enhancing the reading comprehension skill for grade 4 students at 82/84; 2) the learning achievement of the students was higher than before learning which was statistically significant at .011 level.
