COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN TAI YUAN WEAVING CONSERVATION, KHU BUA SUBDISTRICT, MEUANG DISTRICT, RATCHABURI PROVINCE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was to 1) study the community participation in conservation of Tai Yuan weaving in Khu Bua Subdistrict. 2) compare the level of community participation in Tai Yuan weaving conservation by gender, age, education level, occupation, length of stay, and average monthly income. This study was a quantitative research. The tools used were questionnaires, collecting data from 390 people of the population in Moo 1- 8, Khu Bua Subdistrict by simple random sampling. The statistics used in data analysis were percentage, frequency, distribution, mean, and standard deviation. The hypotheses was tested by t-test and One-way ANOVA test. As the difference was found, it was tested by the paired difference test using the Scheffe’s Method and a preset of significance level at 0.05.
The study results found that: 1)the levels of the overall community participation in conservation of Tai Yuan was found to be moderate. The highest rate of the participation was in the planning aspect, followed by the participation in preservation aspect and the participation in dissemination aspect, respectively. 2) The results of the hypothesis testing of the differences between the personal characteristics were found that the participation in conservation of Tai Yuan weaving of people with sex, education level, occupation, length of stay, and average monthly income differed at different levels of the participation in planning aspect. The participation in conservation of Tai Yuan weaving of people with age, education level, and average monthly income differenced at different level of the participation in preservation aspect and the last found that the participation in conservation of Tai Yuan weaving of people with length of stay differenced at different level of the participation in dissemination aspect. According to the recommendations of this study for sustainability, there should be a way to conserve and store knowledge. However, government agencies had to provide a source of learning, provide learning resources for preservation of local culture, and a local museum to collect knowledge and local wisdom in various areas to convey to continue to pass on to the next generation of youth.
