FACTORS SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SCHOOLS’ HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAM FOR MIGRANT CHILDREN UNDER THE PROJECT OF MIGRANT CHILDREN HEALTH PROMOTION IN EDUCATION SYSTEM, CHUMPHON PROVINCE

The objective of the research was to study the factors supporting the development of the schools’ health promotion program for migrant children, under the project of migrant children health promotion in education system, Chumphon
Province. The qualitative case study methodology was employed in 2 successful schools in which their proposals were successfully granted. The data were collected from 3-4 key informants per site, who were involved at both policy level and operational level or until the data were saturated. In-depth interviews and on-line virtual focus group via Zoom were used following guideline questions that had been developed by the researchers and verified by 3 qualified experts. Data from field work were processed and analyzed through content analysis along with analytical examination of relevant literatures. The research results showed that factors supporting the development of the schools’ health promotion program consisted 1) Having provincial strategy, 2) Establishing joint project goals, 3) Involvement of relevant agencies, 4) The enhancement of potential proposals for the project, 5) Technical support, and 6) Potential of the operational team. Recommendations from the research study included 1) Advocating provincial policies to facilitate the management of migrant child health in the school system into practice, 2) the Enhancement of necessary capacities for the operational team, 3) Providing technical support in the schools in form of mentoring program, and 4) ‘Effective project management guidelines’ should be further studied through participatory action research (PAR).
