Predictive factors of preconception intake of folic acid supplementation among Thai reproductive aged women

This study was a quantitative study. The aims of the study were to evaluate knowledge and self-efficacy levels about folic Acid supplementation and its utility among Thai reproductive women who received free vitamin, iron and folic supplements from the Wiwah project page and analyzed the correlation among knowledge level, self-efficacy level and folic acid consumption behavior. Survey method was used in this study and 235 participants were handed questionnaire for self-administration. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression were used for data analysis. From the results, the results showed that the knowledge level about folic acid supplementation for pregnancy was moderate level and good level for self-efficacy level. There was no correlation among knowledge level, self-efficacy level and folic acid consumption behavior (p>0.05). From the results of this study, knowledge level about folic acid supplementation for pre-pregnancy should be promoted along with self-efficacy level. This suggestion was a health promotion guideline for pre-pregnancy reproductive women.
