Effect of Counting Book Program on Work Performance in Library of Faculty of Physical Therapy, Mahidol University

The objectives of this study were 1) to compare the amount of time and number of paper used to survey books in library between using and not using the counting book programs, 2) to determine data accuracy of using and not using the counting book programs, and 3) to determine the satisfaction of using counting book program in library of Faculty of Physical Therapy, Mahidol University. Twenty participants who aged from 18 to 30 years were 80% for females and 20% for males. Both programs were randomly assigned to perform in all participants. After that they were answered the questionnaire. Data were analyzed by the statistic for comparison between dependent groups (paired t-test), the chi-square test and the descriptive statistic of questionnaire. The p-value was set at 0.05.
The results demonstrated nonsignificant difference of time used to survey books in library between using and not using the counting book programs (p<0.05) in the aspect of information and paper preparation, and conclusion. However, the survey books on shelf of using counting book program was 6.42 seconds significantly less than not using program (p=0.04). For the paper resource, there was no paper for using counting book program while 3 pages of papers used for not using program. For data accuracy of the survey books, the results demonstrated that nonsignificant difference (p<0.05) between using and not using programs except the accuracy of damaged books. There was significant difference of accuracy of damage books between using and not using counting book programs (p<0.001). High satisfaction level was demonstrated in the participants who used the counting book program. This study concluded that the counting book program could decrease the amount of time and paper used for survey book in library and the program has data accuracy on checking book number and finding book volume
