Guidelines for Retraction of Published Articles
Sahasat: Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities undertakes the retraction of published articles when post-publication evidence or complaints indicate that an article involves unethical practices in research or publication. Such cases may include plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, redundant publication, or any other actions that undermine the credibility and integrity of scholarly work. The journal follows the retraction procedures recommended by the Thai Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). |
1. Preliminary Investigation |
- Upon receipt of a complaint or credible evidence suggesting potential misconduct, the Editorial Board will initiate a thorough and fair investigation. If necessary, a dedicated committee will be appointed to ensure transparency and impartiality in the review process. The corresponding author will be notified and given an opportunity to provide clarification or evidence within a specified timeframe prior to any editorial decision. |
2. Editorial Decision on Retraction |
- If the investigation confirms that a published article has violated ethical standards in research or publication, or contains falsified or misleading information, the Editorial Board will approve a formal retraction of the article. All decisions will follow the principles and procedures recommended by TCI. |
3. Retraction Procedures |
- Once a retraction decision is finalized, the journal will take the following actions: |
- Apply a visible watermark with the words “RETRACTED” or “RETRACTED ARTICLE” on every page of the article. - Insert the phrase “[RETRACTED ARTICLE]” before the article title in the journal’s metadata. - Replace the abstract (both Thai and English versions) with a statement explaining the reason(s) for retraction, where appropriate. - Retain the retracted article within the published issue to preserve the continuity of page numbering and maintain the integrity of the publication record. |
4. Notification to Relevant Organizations |
- Following the retraction, the Editorial Office will: |
- Notify the Thai Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI) via email (tci.thai@gmail.com) to update the article’s information in the TCI database. - Send an official notification letter to the highest administrative authority of the author’s affiliated institution. - Suspend the acceptance of manuscript submissions from the responsible author(s) for a period of five years, in order to maintain the academic credibility and ethical standards of the journal. |
5. Transparency and Public Disclosure |
- The journal will publicly disclose details of any retracted articles on its official website to ensure transparency and accountability. Readers, researchers, and affiliated institutions will be able to verify the retraction information and its justification clearly. |
