Abstract

This study aimed to: 1) examine the influence of Perceived Destination Image on the revisit intention of international tourists in Bangkok, and 2) analyze the influence of Perceived Tourist Safety on tourists’ revisit intention. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach through a document selection process based on recognized academic databases and analyzed relevant studies according to predetermined criteria. The conceptual framework was based on the Push–Pull Motivation Theory, the concept of Perceived Destination Image, the concept of Perceived Tourist Safety, and the Destination Loyalty Theory, which collectively explain the relationships among the studied variables.

The findings revealed that a positive Perceived Destination Image is a significant factor influencing tourists’ revisit intention. The key dimensions of perceived destination image include tourism resources, facilities and services, accessibility, local communities, and linkages with other tourist attractions. Furthermore, effective tourism safety management was identified as another important factor directly affecting tourists’ revisit intention. Perceived tourist safety consists of physical safety, health safety, and psychological safety, all of which contribute to enhancing tourists’ confidence, trust, and positive travel experiences.

Therefore, integrating the enhancement of Perceived Destination Image with comprehensive and multidimensional tourism safety management can effectively promote international tourists’ revisit intention. This integration can strengthen Bangkok’s competitive advantage as a global tourism destination. The findings provide valuable implications for tourism policy formulation and strategic development planning aimed at achieving long-term sustainability. This study applies the Push–Pull Motivation Theory, the concept of Perceived Destination Image, the concept of Perceived Tourist Safety, and the Destination Loyalty Theory to explain the relationships among perceived destination image, perceived tourist safety, and revisit intention of international tourists in Bangkok.
