Abstract

This study aimed to develop (1) analytical thinking ability in science and (2) science learning achievement among Grade 5 students through five-step learning management with multimedia. The criteria required a mean score of at least 70% of the total score and at least 70% of students meeting the individual passing criterion.
A pre-experimental one-group posttest-only design was employed. The sample comprised 10 Grade 5 students at Non Khwao Lao Yai Rat Songserm School in the second semester of academic year 2025, selected purposively. The instruments were six lesson plans on stars, totaling 12 hours, a 24-item analytical thinking test, and a 24-item science
achievement test. Both tests used four-option multiple-choice items. Data were collected through instruction followed by posttests and analyzed using means, standard deviations, and percentages.
The findings showed that (1) the mean analytical thinking score was 18.20 out of 24 (S.D. = 1.61), equivalent to 75.83%, with eight students (80.00%) meeting the criterion; and (2) the mean science achievement score was 19.20 out of 24 (S.D. = 1.93), equivalent to 80.00%, with eight students (80.00%) meeting the criterion. Both outcomes met the predetermined criteria. Teachers should emphasize activities involving analysis of relationships and support students who do not meet the criterion. These findings describe posttest performance in the studied group; they do not establish improvement from baseline or causal effects of the instructional approach.
