The Development of an Academic Administration Model for Enhancing Students’ Quality at Taksin International Kindergarten, Rayong Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to study the current conditions, needs, and guidelines of academic administration for enhancing students’ quality at Taksin International Kindergarten, Rayong Province under the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization; (2) to develop an academic administration model for improving students’ quality; (3) to implement the developed model; and (4) to evaluate its effectiveness. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design with a mixed-methods approach, consisting of four stages: (1) exploring the current situation, needs, and guidelines of academic administration; (2) developing the model; (3) implementing the model; and (4) evaluating the model. The population comprised 114 teachers of Taksin International Kindergarten, and 89 were selected through simple random sampling. Research instruments included questionnaires, structured interviews, model appropriateness assessment forms, and model evaluation forms. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis.
The research findings revealed that: 
1) both the current conditions and needs for academic administration were at a high level, with four main components identified-principles and concepts, academic administration scope, academic administration process, and success conditions; 
2) the developed model consisted of five components: (a) principles and concepts, (b) eight domains of academic administration-curriculum development, learning process development, measurement and evaluation, educational research, media and technology development, learning resources development, educational supervision, and internal quality assurance, (c) four management processes-planning, implementation, supervision and follow-up, and evaluation and reflection, (d) success conditions, and (e) roles of administrators and teachers; 
3) the implementation results indicated improvement in students’ academic achievement, with Grade 6 O-NET scores exceeding national averages in all subjects, and students winning national-level awards; 
4) the model and its manual were rated at the highest level of appropriateness, confirming its feasibility and effectiveness in enhancing students’ quality.
