ANALYSIS OF THAI LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL

Abstract

Textbooks are a teaching and learning media for teachers and students. Textbook analysis will help teachers understand the characteristics of textbooks and can use textbooks to manage quality learning. The purpose of this research is: Analyzing on Thai textbook in elementary school (grades 4-6). This research is a qualitative method. The informant in this research is Thai language textbook in language for life and literature. Research Instruments are analysis forms for Thai textbooks and can divide into 4 components: 1) Analysis of learning objectives (Knowledge Practice Attitude: KPA).  2) Analysis of desired characteristics. 3) Analysis of competencies of learners. And 4) Analysis of learning skills about 21st century skills. The findings are as follows: Thai textbook in elementary school (grades 4-6) is consistent with the assessment criteria. It is consistent with learning objectives especially in terms of knowledge or cognitive domain. It is consistent with desired characteristics in terms of seeking knowledge. It is consistent with competencies of learners in terms of thinking ability. It is consistent with learning skills of 21st century skills especially subject knowledge in reading and writing. When sorting the data that were obtained from the analysis, found that Thai textbook in language for life and literature for elementary school (grades 4-6), there is content that the most matches with learning objective in terms of knowledge or cognitive domain as 39.66 percent. Characteristics of Thai textbooks that correspond with the assessment criteria are the textbooks that emphasize knowledge to develop cognitive domain.
