The Thinking Promotion Schools Indicators Development by a Professional Learning Communities

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to develop of the thinking promotion schools
indicators by a professional leaning communities to use the data for evaluating performance
for thinking development in schools under the Office of The Basic Education Commission.
Four steps for research : step I was study related documents and research. Step II was the
content validity, suitability assessment , the cover of elements and indicators for evaluate
thinking promotion schools. Step III was studies about thinking development of 3 the best
practice schools. The last step IV was focus group discussions of stakeholders and develop
thinking skills involved in school.
The findings were the thinking promotion schools indicators by a professional
leaning communities appeared that 2 parts : part I was the indicators base on 6 thinking
promotion schools factors, 49 indicators, in which 4 indicators for determine the target for
thinking skills development in schools, 8 indicators for planning integrated curriculum that
promotes several thinking skills, 9 indicators for the learning activities to develop thinking
skills in anytime, 5 indicators for thinking development extracurricular activities, 10 indicators
for an environment that encourages learning and thinking skills, and 13 indicators for
measurement and evaluation of thinking skills. Part II was indicators evaluate that reflect
professional learning communities performance appeared that 8 factors, 53 indicators, in
which 4 indicators for the stimulate a culture of learning, 6 indicators for the creation of
norms and shared values, 4 indicators for planning and collaboration framework, 6 indicators
for create a culture of cooperation, 6 indicators for a search for inquiry knowledge, 16
indicators for the implementation and discussion oriented and creative reflection, 6 indicators
for presentation of performance, and 5 indicators for continuous improvement.
