Abstract

The arrangement of learning activities with inquiry 5E and STAD is the way of
teaching to practice learning activities based on Constructivist Theory. The purposes of
this study were 1) to develop learning activities of mathematics in statistics based on
Constructivist Theory combining 5E and STAD models with an efficiency in rule 75/75
for Matthayomsuksa 3 students 2) to study effectiveness index of learning activities in
statistics based on Constructivist Theory combining 5E and STAD models and regular
learning activities for Matthayomsuksa 3 students 3) to compare learning achievement
of students in statistics between learning activities based on Constructivist Theory
combining 5E and STAD models and regular learning activities 4) to study durability of
students’ learning from learning activities combining 5E and STAD models.
The sample used in this study was two classrooms of 80 Matthayomsuksa 3
students studying in the second semester of the academic year 2013 at Chompon
Wittayasan School Surin educational service area 33. The students were selected by
cluster random sampling. Each classroom arranges the students in assorted level of
ability. The tools for this research consist of the mathematics lesson plans based on
Constructivist Theory combining 5E and STAD models and the regular mathematics
lesson plans in statistics. There are 20 plans with an hour per plan for a combined
total of 20 hours. The 30 items of multiple choices testing with discrimination power
from 0.27 to 0.73 and difficulties ranging from 0.6 to 0.8 . The statistical analysis was
conducted by percentage, mean, standard deviation, and hypothesis testing for
independent samples t-test and dependent samples t-test.
The results of this study were as follows.
1. The learning activities in statistics based on Constructivist Theory
combining 5E and STAD models has an efficiency of 81.78/80.33 and the regular
learning activities has an efficiency of 77.80/76.58.
2. The effectiveness index (E.I.) of learning activities in statistics based on
Constructivist Theory combining 5E and STAD models equals 0.71 and the effectiveness
index of normal learning activities equals 0.66. 3. The achievement of students who had studied with learning activities in
statistics based on Constructivist Theory combining 5E and STAD models was higher
than those with regular learning activities at the significant level of 0.05.
4. The students who had studied with learning activities in statistics based
on Constructivist Theory combining 5E and STAD models had durable gains in learning.
In conclusion, the learning activities in statistics based on Constructivist
Theory combining 5E and STAD models have had suitable efficiency and effectiveness.
The students had durable gains in learning. It is able to use for studying and learning
arrangements to lead the achievement of students effectively.
