Problems and Needs of Developing Student’s Learning Processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research are 1) to study about problems and needs of
developing students’ learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham
Province in terms of school policies and management; 2) to study about problems and
needs of developing students’ learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in
Mahasarakham Province in term of teachers; 3) to study about problems and needs of
developing students’ learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham
Province in term of students and 4) to prioritize problems and needs of developing
students’ learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province.
The research samples include executives, teachers and middle-school students of
Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province in academic year 2013, accounted
for 76 people in total. Twenty-two executives and teachers were selected through
purposive sampling. Fifty-four students were selected from multistage sampling. The
research instruments were 1) self-assessment reports of academic year 2011 of
Nakhawittayakom School; 2) focus-group interviews for teacher, executive and student
groups on the topic of problems and needs of developing students’ learning
processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province through notes and
tape recording; 3) questionnaires about problems and needs of developing students’
learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province. Data
procedure and data analysis were conducted through qualitative research. In
conclusion, the data were written by descriptive analysis to examine accuracy and
reliability to use empirical data to conduct as questionnaires. Then the questionnaires
would be brought back to the responders to ensure the reality. Also, the data would
be brought for priority setting through PNI-modified Priority Needs Index with the
formula of PNI modified = (I – D)/D
Research Results
The top five priorities of problems and needs of developing students’
learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province in terms of
school policies and management were ranked as follows 1) classroom facilities such as
desks, chairs, fans and temperature stimulated learning efficiency; 2) the number of
ICT media was enough for the demand; 3 ) the number of necessary material was
enough for the demand; 4) personnel had enough expertise such as art, music and
dancing art; 5) the school supported job creation and supplement career for the
students.
The top five priorities of problems and needs of developing students’
learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province in terms of
teachers were ranked as follows 1) the teachers understood the research process; 2)
the teachers had capacity to teach by using project-based learning; 3) the teachers
had capacity to give lesson that improve student’s analytic and synthetic skills; 4) the
teachers received continue developing and supervision in learning management; 5) the
teachers had capacity to generate ICT medias.
The top five priorities of problems and needs of developing students’
learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province in terms of
students were ranked as follows 1) the students had abilities in foreign language
communication; 2) the students understood the learning through research processes;
3) the students had diverse techniques for knowledge exchange; 4) the students
reached the expected O-Net score of the school; 5) the students were able to think,
do and solve problems.
The top ten priorities of problems and needs of developing students’
learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province were ranked
as follows 1) the students had abilities in foreign language communication; 2) the
students understood the learning through research processes; 3) classroom facilities

In conclusion, the top ten priorities of problems and needs of developing
students’ learning processes of Nakhawittayakom School in Mahasarakham Province
were in the first phase. The data will be used for further learning process
development. The standard design or development program should be concretely
done and the results should be further investigated.
