Abstract

Developing teaching critical thinking effectively required many techniques and
teaching methods. Teaching with 4MAT learning style strategy is one of many teaching
innovations that helps teaching critical thinking more effectively and successfully. this
study aimed to 1) finds Microsoft Excel lesson’s proficiency through 4MAT learning cycle
to develop analytical thinking of students in Mattayonsuksa 2, which had standard
proficiency at 80/80. 2) It aimed to find effective index on Using of Microsoft Excel lesson
through 4MAT learning cycle to develop analytical thinking of students in Mattayonsuksa 2.
3) It aimed to compare learning achievement and abilities of critical thinking of the
students in Mattayomsuksa 2 using Microsoft Excel through 4MAT learning cycle strategy
and regular study. 4) It aimed to study the students’ satisfaction for 4MAT learning
cycle to develop their analytical thinking. Sample was students in Mattayomsuksa 2
who studied at Khokkorpittayakhom School, Khokkor sub district, Muang district, Maha
Sarakham province, and 60 students in the second semester of 2555 academic year
were selected by cluster random sampling. Research instrument included 1) 6 learning
plan, 2) 6 learning units on Microsoft Excel lesson through 4MAT learning cycle, 3) learning
achievement test; 30 items of objective test , 4) analytical thinking measurement test;
50 items of objective test and 5) satisfaction measurement test for 4MAT learning cycle
learners by using 20 items of rating scale. The data was analyzed by computer, and
statistics for analysis was average, percentage and standard deviation. Inferential
statistics was t-test (Independent).
This research found the following results.
1. Learning Microsoft Excel through 4MAT learning cycle to develop analytical
thinking of students in Mattayomsuksa 2 had 85.12 / 84.88 of proficiency which was
The eligibility criteria 85/85.
2. Learning Microsoft Excel through 4MAT learning cycle to develop
analytical thinking of students in Mattayomsuksa 2 had 0.7509 of effective index which
could enhance students’ learning with 75.09 percent.
3. Learning achievement and abilities of critical thinking of the students in
Mattayomsuksa 2 studying through 4MAT learning style strategy was higher than learning
through regular study with statistically significance at .01 level . 4. Students in Mattayomsuksa 2 learnt Microsoft Excel through 4MAT
learning cycle to develop analytical thinking having total satisfaction at the highest
level.
In summary, learning through 4MAT learning cycle strategy could effectively
improved learning achievement and abilities of critical thinking of the students in
Mattayomsuksa 2 on using Microsoft Excel. As a result, teachers should be encouraged
to use this style of teaching in classes for effective learning achievement.
