Outcomes of Learning through Web–Based Instruction Entitled “Distance Instruction System”of Master Degree Students in Educational Technology, Faculty of Education

Abstract
Learning–teaching organization using web–based instruction is popularly used because
it is an innovation in this age of information and communication technology. Learners can
learn by themselves without a limitation of time and place. This study aimed : (1) to study
the opinions of graduate students Technology Faculty of Education the implementation of
e-Learning systems, or for use in teaching and learning (2) to develop web–based Instruction
with an efficiency of 80/80, (3) find out an effectiveness index of the developed webbased Instruction, (4) to compare an achievement motivation of the students before and
after learning through the web-based learning entitled Distance Instruction Systems, and (5)
to study satisfaction of students who learned using the developed web–based. The sample
consisted of 30 graduate students in the Master of Education degree Program majoring in
Educational Technology, Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University in the third semester
(summer) of the academic year 2010, obtained using the purposive sampling technique.
The instruments used for collecting data were : (1) a 26-item questionnaire on attitudes
about e-Learning system for use in teaching with discriminating powers ranging 0.33–0.86
and a reliability of 0.97 (2) web–based learning on Distance Instruction Systems, (3) a 60–
item 5–choice achievement test on Distance Instruction Systems with difficulties ranging
0.21–0.78, discriminating powers ranging 0.23–0.79 and a reliability of 0.78, and (4) a 30-
scale item of satisfaction toward web–based learning with discriminating powers (rxy) ranging
0.22 - 0.88, and a reliability (α ) of 0.83. The statistics used for analyzing the collected
data were percentage, mean, and standard deviation ; and t–test (Independent Samples)
was employed for testing hypotheses.
The results of the study were as follows :
1. The students in the Master of Education degree Program majoring in Educational
Technology had attitudes about e-Learning system for use in teaching as a whole and in
each aspect at a high level.
2. The web-based Instruction in Course 0503723 had efficiencies of 80.64/83.78.
3. The web–based Instruction had effectiveness index of 0.5967, showing that the
students progressed their learning at 59.67 percent.
4. The students who learned using web–based Instruction after learning showed
gains in mean scores on learning achievement than before learning at the .05 level of
significance.
5. The students taught by using the web–based courseware as a whole of learning
satisfactions at a high level ( X4.10, S.D. 0.32)
