Thammasat Journal of Japanese Studies aims to serve as a platform for disseminating and exchanging knowledge in Japanese studies among faculty members, researchers, academics, and students. This is beneficial for the integrated development of society and the nation. The journal accepts articles in the fields of social sciences and humanities, including history, economics, political science, business administration, sociology, anthropology, language, philosophy, literature, art, culture, international relations, and other related fields.

Types of articles considered:

  • Research Articles
  • Academic Articles
  • Invited Articles
  • Book Reviews
  • Interview Reports or Seminar Reports

Authors can submit articles in Thai, English, or Japanese, following the journal’s guidelines for article preparation and referencing. Importantly, the articles must not have been previously published in any journal and must not be under consideration by any other journal.

Currently, the journal is published exclusively online.

Publication schedule: Thammasat Journal of Japanese Studies is a biannual academic journal (2 issues per year):

  • Issue 1: January - June
  • Issue 2: July - December

Article review criteria: Research articles, academic articles, and invited articles undergo preliminary review by the editorial board before being evaluated by three experts from various institutions through a double-blind peer review process (reviewers do not know the authors’ names, and authors do not know the reviewers’ names). Other types of academic work must be reviewed by the journal’s editorial board before publication.

Publication fee: Currently, Thammasat Journal of Japanese Studies does not charge any publication fees.

Note: The journal was formerly known as the Journal of Japanese Studies (ISSN 2697-648X). It has been renamed “Thammasat Journal of Japanese Studies” starting from Volume 39, Issue 1 (January - June 2022).
