Abstract

This paper investigates the problems of translating Japanese into Thai. The analysis includes 1. vocabularies 2. grammatical expressions 3. sentence structures 4. discourse-level expressions, and 5. others (format and punctuation marks). Various problems are founded and analyzed. The causes of the problems are categorized into the following groups. They are, 1. carelessness 2. guessing without investigation 3. misunderstanding 4. paying no attention to expressions of target language, and 5. lack of awareness of audiences.
