Big 5 Personality Factors and Intergenerational Transmission of Domestic Violence Among Female Adolescents

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to explain the qualitative relationship between the Big 5 Personality factors and Intergenerational Transmission of Domestic Violence (IDV); and to explain the qualitative relationship between experiencing family violence and IDV. This research is qualitative research and mainly focuses on adolescent girls at the age of 18 to 25 years old residing in Bangkok and the metropolitan area. This research involves 10 participants who have experienced being witnesses or victims of domestic violence (DV) and later becoming perpetrators of violence within their own family. The study shows that the participants with the highest average score for personality traits are those with "Neuroticism". However, interestingly, the study found that participants with "Conscientiousness" and "Extroversion" had assessment scores for "Neuroticism" that were slightly lower, with no significant difference. The study also found an interesting assessment is the presence of a low "Agreeableness" personality trait. This is due to the assessment results matching those of individuals with a highly "Neuroticism" personality trait. In this study, it was found that the participants experienced DV in their early childhood and discovered similarities between their experiences of DV in their original families and the continuation of the IDV within their families. Regarding the causes of violent actions and the nature of violence.
