Selected Factors Affecting the Operation of the Student Support System in Schools under Nonthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1

Abstract
The purposes of this research were to study 1) selected factors related to the operation of the student support system in schools; 2) the conditions of operation of the student support system in schools; 3) the relationship between selected factors related to the operation of the student support system in schools and the operation of the student support system in schools; and 4) selected factors affecting the operation of the student support system in schools under Nonthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. The research sample consisted of 297 teachers in schools under Nonthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, obtained by stratified random sampling based on school size. The sample size was determined based on Krejcie and Morgan’s Sample Size Table. The employed research tool was a rating scale questionnaire on selected factors related to the operation of the student support system in school, which comprised six factors, namely, competency of teacher, leadership of administrator, teamwork of involving personnel, operational policy of the student support system, cooperation network, and information technology. Statistics employed for data analysis were the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research findings showed that 1) both the overall and specific selected factors related to the operation of the student support system in the schools were rated at the highest level; the specific factors could be ranked from top to bottom based on their rating means as follows: leadership of administrator, competency of teacher, teamwork of involving personnel, operational policy of the student support system, cooperation network, and information technology; 2) the overall condition of operation of the student support system in the schools was rated at the highest level, while the specific aspects of the operational condition were rated at highest levels; knowing individual students; screening of students; promotion and development of students; protection, helping and improvement of students; and the specific aspects of the operational condition were rated at high level; referring of students, respectively; 3) the selected factors related to the operation of the student support system in the schools correlated positively at the high level with the operation of the student support system in the schools, which was significant at the .01 level of statistical significance; and 4) the selected factors affecting the operation of the student support system in the schools at the .01 level of statistical significance were the operational policy of the student support system, competency of teacher, cooperation network, teamwork of involving personnel, and information technology; all of the factors could be combined to predict the operation of the student support system in the schools by 64.5 percent.
