Guidelines for Enhancing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of the Loan Receivables Management System for Research and Academic Service Projects: A Case Study of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahidol University

Abstract
This article aimed to analyze the problems of the loan receivable management system for research and academic service projects and propose guidelines for developing the efficiency and effectiveness of the loan receivable management system for research and academic service project. The authors utilized data of the debtors who had outstanding loans for academic services at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (SH), Mahidol University for the fiscal year 2020-2022 as a case study. A fishbone diagram was used to analyze the data. The authors found that there were 4 main problems that caused the ineffectiveness and inefficiency of SH’s loan receivable management system for research and academic service projects: personnel, work methods, regulations/criteria, and technology. The authors also utilized the concept of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) to identify areas for improvement and to provide guidelines for developing SH’s loan receivable management system to be more flexible, efficient, and effective, such as notifying loan debtors via email, SMS, or Line application when the deadline is approaching and has passed, implementing a systematic approach for tracking loan debtors’ remittance, and ensuring all staff members to profoundly understand and follow the loans receivable policies and procedures.
