Creative Dancing “Moon Mung Bang Fai Ae: Rocket Fireball Decoration”

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to study about the step of rocket fireball decoration and to create northeast folk show “Moon Mung Bang Fai Ae: Rocket Fireball Decoration”.

The scope of this study is base on the process of Rocket making in Yasothon province by using qualitative research methods, field study, documentation, interview, observation and participation in the making process, and related research. The results of the research are as follows.

1. Bang Fai Ae: Rocket Fireball Decoration, one of the identities of the Rocket Festival, is commonly found in the rocket dancing parade in which the rocket is beautifully decorated by the people of Yasothon province. Bang Fai Ae (the rocket fireball) is composed of fire flame, rocket tail, fire ball which are all made of bamboo and decorated beautifully in Yasothon’s style using golden decorative paper in Thai pattern.

2. Regarding to the creative show, the researcher uses the steps in making Bang Fai Ae of Yasothon province to create the northeast folk performance. The performance can be divided into 2 parts; the first part comprises of preparation and decoration, and the second part is the rocket dancing parade. The style of the performance is northeast folk show.

The researcher selects the performers, composes the music, and designs the costume, the props, lighting, positioning, and choreography to present and signify the Rocket Fireball Festival in Yasothon province.
