Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the basic information and needs needed to improve students' English communication skills, 2) to develop the PIPCO Model, 3) to study the results of using the model by comparing the English communication skills after learning with the 70% criterion and to study the satisfaction of students, and 4) to evaluate the model after the actual trial in terms of suitability. The research was conducted in four phases: Phase 1 studied the basic information and needs of 56 third-grade students, Phase 2 invited 5 experts to evaluate the quality of the model, Phase 3 tested the model with 25 third-grade students obtained by randomizing groups, and Phase 4 evaluated the model by 5 participants. The tools used were questionnaires, style assessments, learning management plan assessments, English communication skills tests, and satisfaction questionnaires with IOC values ranging from 0.60 to 1.00 and confidence values ranging from 0.89 to 0.98. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, PNI Modified, and One Sample t-test
The results showed that
1) students have a low level of overall English communication skills, but have the highest level of overall development needs (𝑥̅ = 4.65, S.D. = 0.49), with the highest required skill being confidence in speaking, followed by understanding conversations and reading to comprehend the meaning.
2) The PIPCO Model consists of 6 components: Learning Objectives, Learning Activities, Social System There are 5 stages: preparation stage, language input stage, practice stage, and learning environment. The expert assessed that the overall suitability was very high.
3) Students had an average English communication skill score of 32.24 out of 40 points, significantly higher than the 70% threshold at the .05 level, and were satisfied with the PIPCO Model overall (𝑥̅ = 4.52, S.D. = 0.53), and
4) the results of the post-trial evaluation by the relevant parties. Overall to the highest level
