Development of Analytical Thinking Skills for the 5th grade students Using the Literary Variation Technique Integrated with Animation on Rachathirat: The Birth of Makatho Based on Storytelling Theory

Abstract

 The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop an animation entitled "Rajadhiraj:  The Birth of Makatho" based on storytelling structure theories; 2) compare the analytical thinking skills of the 5^th grade students after learning through the literary variation technique combined with the developed animation against the 70% criterion; and 3) study the students' satisfaction with the learning management using the literary variation technique combined with the animation.  The target group consisted of 20 the 5^th grade students at Wat Mahawanaram School during the first semester of the 2025 academic year. The research instruments included the animation "Rajadhiraj: The Birth of Makatho," an analytical thinking skills test, and a satisfaction evaluation form. The research findings revealed that 1) the animation was 12:14 minutes long and aligned with the storytelling theory comprising 1) beginning, 2) development, 3) crisis, 4) resolution, and
5) conclusion, with the innovation quality assessment yielding a mean (M) of 5.00 and a standard deviation (SD) of 0.00 2) the students' analytical thinking skills after the intervention were significantly higher than the 70% criterion at a .05 level of significance; and 3) the students' satisfaction after using the literary variation technique combined with the animation was at the highest level (M = 4.82, SD = 0.44)
