Communication Mobile Application Development for Students in Faculty of Science and Technology, Phranakhon Rajabhat University on iOS Operating System

Abstract

The research aims to 1) examine students’ requirements for an application that will improve the efficiency of communications between students and all instructors, including authorities of faculty of science and technology, Rajabhat Phranakorn University, via iOS operating system 2) design and develop the application on iOS operating system 3) evaluate the application’s performance and satisfaction by specialists and users. The research scope covered 1) developing administration sector to add news and announcement on the website of faculty of science and technology to support Apple push notification services. 2) The application on iOS operating system should contain a notification system by apple push notification, newsfeed, a searching system for phone numbers and directory of Rajabhat Phranakorn University, naviagation system via GPS and augmented reality, department’s detail presentation system, contact admin for problem reporting system, sign up system, chat room, communication system for asking questions to the faculty, private notification system. The software used for developing the application website were Apache, PHP, PHPMyAdmin and MySQL Database. The program for developing on iOS operation system were xcode and Objective C. The research instrument was a five-rating scale questionnaire. The subjects in the study were 12 computer experts and 328 university students from the faculty of Science and Technology at Phranakhon Rajabhat University. Statistic used in data analysis were mean, percentage, and standard deviation. The research found that: 1) the result of students requirements for the design of communication applications between students and faculty of science and technology, Phranakhon Rajabhat University on the IOS system at a high level. The mean was 4.15. The standard deviation was 0.79. 2) the result of the design and development of application communication between university students and faculty of science and technology Phranakhon Rajabhat University on iOS operating system can done within the scope of research has been defined. 3) as regards the efficiency of application from 12 computer experts was efficient at the most high level averaging 4.48 and deviation value was 0.38. The satisfaction of application from university students as evaluate by 328 users showed that the system was efficient at high level averaging 4.08 and deviation score was 0.85.
