The research aims to organize activities and evaluate students’ participation in solid waste separation activities. The participatory action research (PAR) was applied to collect and analyze data by selecting two dormitories at Naresuan University as research sites. The participants consisted of 4 groups: 1) 152 students living in the dormitories, 2) 2 executives’ staff, 3) 2 official staff, and 4) 2 dormitory housekeepers. Workshops, survey responses, interviews, and observation methods were employed to collect data. Content analysis and descriptive statistics were applied to analyze data. The results showed four steps of participatory waste separation activities; 1) learning and needs, 2) designing waste separation activities, 3) implementing waste separation activities, and 4) monitoring and evaluating waste separation activity. Participation of participant groups leads to various benefits in all steps of waste separation activities including guide needed information for designing, revise the waste separation activity, implementing the waste separation activity, and evaluate waste separation activities. The result of monitoring and evaluation of waste separation activity showed that the outcome is not what was expected. Therefore, the university should provide knowledge and create understanding in waste separation continuously, including preparing material and equipment, as well as initiate an encouraging approach to provoke student behavior in waste separation.
