Occupation Promotion Guidelines for People in Ko Sukon Subdistrict, Palian District, Trang Province

Abstract
This research aimed to study the state of unemployment, the readiness of the resources, and the need for occupational promotion in Ko Sukon, Trang province. The sample of quantitative study consisted of 343 people and the qualitative study consisted of 32 people. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, and standard deviation, while qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis techniques. The results found that 1) 22.2% of the population were unemployed, and 22.3% of the reasons for unemployment were attributed to old age. 2) The Ko Sukon community possessed resources conducive to tourism, including a suitable area for tourism, abundant marine resources, and groups with former occupations that were ready to support tourism. Additionally, 94.5% of the people expressed a desire to secure employment or engage in additional occupations, 3) 80.5% of the people required funding. Their desired occupations included building an online market, addressing the lack of knowledge, processing sun-dried meat to increase its value, redesigning curry paste packaging due to the outdated original design, and producing batik cloth to better represent the community's identity.
