Roles of Sangha Administrators in Sangha Administration in Bang Pa-in District, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Abstract

This research aimed 1) to study opinions of monks on roles of Sangha administrators in Sangha administration in Bang Pa-in district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province; 2) to compare opinions of monks on roles of Sangha administrators in Sangha administration in Bang Pa-in district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province and 3) to study problems, obstacles and suggestions concerning roles of Sangha administrators in Sangha administration in Bang Pa-in district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province based on individual factors. A sample group consisted of 199 monks in Bang Pa-in district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province.  The research instrument was a questionnaire. Statistics for data analysis adopted in this study consisted of frequency, percentage, means, standard deviation, T-TEST, F-TEST, and LSD at the statistically significant level of .05.

Findings revealed that:

1. the levels of opinions of monks on roles of Sangha administrators in Sangha administration in Bang Pa-in district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province in overall were found in a very high level. The highest to lowest were found on administration, welfare education, public welfare, religion education, Buddhism propagation and public assistance, respectively;


2. monks with differences in age, length of time in monkhood, positions and education qualifications showed no difference in the opinion levels on roles of Sangha administrators in Sangha administration in Bang Pa-in district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province and


3. problems and obstacles found in the study showed that the monks did not have sufficient knowledge to disseminate the Dhamma and there was a lack of support to educate Dhamma to students. Pertaining to suggestions, it was suggested that there should be sufficient personnel to work in administration, the power of administration should be decentralized, and the policy should be concretely implemented.
