Abstract

This study aimed to examine students’ perceptions and attitudes toward the implementation of cooperative learning using a modified jigsaw technique to enhance reading skills in Japanese Language 4. The study population consisted of 16 undergraduate students who enrolled in Japanese Language 4 during the 2024 academic year at Payap University. Data were collected by using a questionnaire, and the responses were analyzed with statistical mean scores and then interpreted against established evaluative criteria.

The findings revealed that students who participated in learning activities incorporating the jigsaw cooperative learning technique have a high level of overall perceptions and attitudes. This result of the study is attributed to the activity design which can encourage students to apply their reading knowledge effectively. The integration of the cooperative learning approach fosters students’ interest, confidence, and active engagement in the learning process. Overall, the result shows achievement of integrating the jigsaw cooperative learning technique supporting language learning environment and aligning well with students' learning needs and expectations effectively.
