English Vocabulary Learning Strategy to Improve Memorizing Skill with Prefixes and Suffixes through Video Activity of the Fourth-Year Students in English Program, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University

Abstract

The purposes of the study were 1) to compare the achievement of memorizing prefixes and suffixes before and after learning through video activity and 2) to investigate the students’ satisfaction with learning stragegy of memorizing vocabularies through the video clip. The sample of the study was the fourth-year students studying in English program. The research instruments were a pre-test and a post-test of prefixes and suffixes, a video clip about prefixes and suffixes, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used in this study was the percentage, the mean score, the standard deviation, and T-test dependent for testing hypothesis. The results of the study found that the the average scores of the learners’ memorizing prefixes and suffixes after learning through the video activities were significantly higher at the level of 27.63 and this can indicate that the learners’ memories were higher as well. The finding about learners’ satisfaction with vocabulary (prefixes and suffixes) learning strategy through the video activity was at the level of 4.69. This means the learners were greatly satisfied with learning via the video activity. Additionnally, the result of learners’ satisfaction can conclude that learning through the video clip assists learners to get more achievement in English significantly.
