The Study of Belief of Human Birth Appearing in Literature Performed the Chanting Parents' Loving Kindness Ceremony : Birth

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the belief of human birth that appeared in the literature performing in the chanting parents’ loving kindness ceremony by focusing on birth chapter and dividing in 2 parts which were pre-fertilization and postfertilization.

As the results, there had been 3 beliefs which were harbinger, shooting star, and dreaming. These 3 beliefs had been the originally Thai tradition and appeared in many Thai folk tales. As the post-fertilization, this belief has been mainly given by Traibhūmikathā. The literature performing in the chanting parent’s loving kindness ceremony (Birth Chapter) was an evidence of inheriting human birth which demonstrated how human bare, what the evolutions in pregnancy, what shape has been being changed, how the organs developed in each period that has been a literature being used in the ceremony and inherited until recent.
