Productive Teaching Model Reflecting on Citizenship Creation through Citizen Context in Kad Luang, Kengtung City

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the context of Kad Luang, Kengtung City and the structural relationships among citizens of each class in Kad Luang, Kengtung City and 2) develop and create a productive teaching model reflecting on citizenship construction through the context of citizenship in Kad Luang, Kengtung City. The research involves two phases: collecting field data from informants and citizens of three classes in Kad Luang, and developing and creating a teaching model, piloting it with a sample of student teachers who have undergone teaching internships. The research instruments include in-depth interview and reflective thinking form. Statistical data analysis includes means and descriptive analyses.

This research aims to 1) the past and present class relations of Kad Luang, Kengtung. Changes in government are a major factor affecting the way of life of the citizens. However, Kad Luang is a large market where all classes coexist on the basis of morality, ethics, and acceptance of class differences. In the past, the ruling class wants Kad Luang to be a place where all classes of citizens could earn income. This leads to the prosperity of cultural exchanges between Thailand, China, and England, eventually establishing the largest circular economy center in Shan State. Its historical identity has also been preserved, along with its acceptance of foreign cultures, adapting to the way of life in Kad Luang to the present. 2) Building citizenship is a core of social studies teaching, and the application of productive teaching concepts will enhance student teachers' skills in designing lesson plans, including: 1) critical mind, 2) creative mind, 3) productive mind, and 4) responsible mind. Integrating the civic identity of Kad Luang, Kengtung, into a teaching model will result in sustainable citizenship development through the education system.
