Research and Innovation in Performing Arts to Raise the Quality of Society Sustainably in Nakhon Pathom Province

Abstract

The research article aims to create the innovation in performing arts in order to enhance the quality of the society. The scope of contents includes the study of lifestyle, tradition, and culture of ethnic group in Nakhon Pathom Province. It is a creative and qualitative research. The research tools consist of interview form, participant and non-participant observation form, focus group discussion. The basic data analysis is performed for leading to innovation creation process and performance components of Saran Ethnic Costume and descriptive statistics such as mean is done based on analysis of the data.

The result reveals that the satisfaction evaluation of watching the performance innovation of Saran ethnic group is at an average of 4.51, in a very good level. It is inspired by the importance of five ethnic groups in Nakhon Pathom Province such as Lao Krang, Tai Dam, Lao Wiang, Mon, and Chinese. The performance components are involved with 1) the background music and songs which are reflected to the music identity of various ethnic groups; 2) the choreography is applied by the integration of local dance, traditional Thai dance, natural gesture dance, and recent mixed designed dance; 3) the performing costume is inspired by the characteristic costume of ethnic groups; and 4) the actress are auditioned in the group of 8 people. As a result, this performance is able to improve the quality of life into 4 different aspects: agriculture, textile, dressing culture, and coexistence. Furthermore, it adds cultural values through the local community products as well as the cultural tourist industry in Nakhon Pathom Province which increases income to community and enhances the quality of life to ethnic groups properly. The body of knowledge from research is to obtain a creative dancing arts form ethnic groups in Nakhon Pathom Province according to the theory of choreography. It is for promoting and creating the more cultural values through innovation in performing arts of Saran ethnic group.
