Construction of Writing Exercises to Develop Thai Writing Skill of the Chinese Students’ Learning at Rangsit University

Abstract

The purposes of this research are that 1) to construct the writing exercises to develop Thai writing skill of Chinese students at Rangsit University; 2) to compare the Thai writing skills; and 3) to study the satisfaction of the students. It is a quasi-experimental research. The subjects are 24 Chinese students who enrolled in Effective Thai Writing Subject (THA 220) in the second semester of the academic year 2019. They are selected by purposive sampling. The research instruments are as follows: 1) the writing exercises on the course of Effective Thai Writing; 2) pre-test and post-test; and 3) students’ satisfaction questionnaire. The research is conducted by having students try out the writing exercises. The data collection is analyzed by descriptive statistic and using hypothesis test by t-test.

The results of this research indicate that 1) the writing exercises on the course of Effective Thai Writing has the efficiency level of 77.15/79.58 which follows a set of criteria; 2) the academic achievement of students after using the writing exercises is higher than the before using the writing exercises at a significant level of 0.5; 3) overall, the students have a good satisfaction towards these writing exercises. The body of knowledge is as follows: 1) the construction of writing exercises matches the students’ knowledge level and enables to use on the real course of Thai writing skills; 2) the construction of writing exercises to develop Thai writing skills is designed from correct theory and considered from experts of Thai teachings to foreigners, so the samples can learn effectively and continue the knowledge to learn Thai in the future; 3) the samples are developed by following their abilities and related to their needs.
