Teacher Personality and Good Teaching Characteristics

Abstract

          This article emphasizes on the personality and teaching characteristics of a teacher. I discuss the personality is a behavior of each person which is different based on appearance, maturity, social skills, and inner qualities. For teacher personal analysis, it is found that:  1) bodily: teachers have to dress properly, be courteous, speak politely, good mannered and so on. 2) emotional: teachers should control their emotion, be matured, pleasant, responsible, on time, diligent, generous, etc. 3) social: they should have leadership qualities, good human relationships, adaptable, etc. 4) wisdom: they have to be creative, resourcefulness, observant including the seven qualities of a good man (Sappurisa Dhamma).

          For good teacher characteristic analysis, it is divided into two aspects: 1) preparation of teaching: teachers have to analyze the curriculum, prepare the teachings, and arrange a conducive environment for learning, and so on; 2) teaching: they have to focus on student-centered learning, emphasize on the process of learning by doing respond to student’s requirement, etc. Therefore, effective teachers always have to develop their own outer and inner personality, and improve on their teaching to suit current society.
