Community Enterprise and Sustainable Development Guidelines

Abstract

          Community enterprise is a small business activity which proceeded by the members of community as a collective activity. The activities is performed by each community then develop and expand business in both production and marketing to improve self-reliance and increase income of community. Production for consumption or use of the community economy is a characteristic of sufficiency for the community to solve one of the economic problems in present.

          The guidelines for the development of sustainable community enterprises consist of 8 steps as follows: 1) evaluation of past performance in order to find solutions or to develop better activity; 2) development of products and services consistently; 3) control and maintenance of the quality of products; 4) production must not affect the resources, occupation, and lifestyle of the community; 5) integrity of management, transparency, verification; 6) additional study visits; 7) creation of networking for learning, production, and marketing within and outside the community; 8) development of community enterprises to be a model for learning of members and interested parties.
