Abstract

This research, "Analysis of the Return on Investment of Organic Bamboo Charcoal Products from Local Wisdom: A Case Study of the Rak Samunphrai Community Enterprise Group, Som Poi Subdistrict, Non Din Daeng District, Buriram Province," aims to 1) study the current state of organic bamboo charcoal products, 2) develop new products, and 3) analyze costs and returns. A participatory action research method was used with 45 group members. Tools included semi-structured interviews, observation, cost recording forms, and satisfaction questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis, and quantitative data using descriptive statistics. The research findings revealed that: 1) The group's main product is bamboo charcoal briquettes priced at 50-80 baht per bag. A SWOT analysis identified strengths in raw materials and local wisdom, but a lack of knowledge in product development and cost management. Opportunities arose from the popularity of natural products and supporting government policies, while obstacles included high competition. The research aimed to mitigate climate variability. The outcomes included: 2) developing three new products: bamboo charcoal shower gel (189 baht), charcoal powder for washing fruits and vegetables (200 baht), and charcoal odor absorber bags (79 baht); and 3) a five-month period (February-June 2025) showing total revenue of 32,090 baht (a 28.36% increase), total costs of 19,929.45 baht (a 2.20% increase), a net profit of 9,593.35 baht (a 219.78% increase), and a net profit margin of 29.89%. The highest-return product was the bamboo charcoal shower gel. (Gross profit margin 45.16%) A pre- and post-development comparison showed that the number of products increased from 1 to 3, the average selling price increased by 150%, distribution channels increased from 1 to 3, membership increased from 10-15 to 45 people, cost accounting knowledge increased by 74.8%, and satisfaction increased by 58.10%. This research demonstrates that developing products from local wisdom combined with systematic cost-benefit analysis can effectively enhance the competitiveness of community enterprises, create sustainable income, and serve as a model for other groups in developing products from local resources.
