Vietnamese cultures through festival desserts

Abstract

Vietnam has a vast area. It has many ethnic diversities it is unique in different ways of life, cultures, traditions, and festivals. That is to say, there are differences in traditions, rituals, thoughts, beliefs, actions, values, attitudes, and rules that are made on different occasions. By inheriting from each other until various festivals influenced by different history. It affects to the identity of making desserts in various festivals as well. This article aims to study beliefs, cultures and traditions of desserts. That conveys the value and is hidden with auspicious meaning and hidden deep meaning in the name, appearance, composition, proportions, colors and the time. The results showed that 1. the aspect of faith culture and traditions such as Banh Chung, which is made from glutinous rice flour, round shape, that refers to the sky, the sun, as if it was a god and the sky protects humanity and it protects all good things for peace and happiness in the new era. 2. humanitarian aspect, i.e., Banh Chung cooks during the new year as a time when everyone returns home to gather and worship their ancestors. It also attaches importance to agriculture as well. 3. Symbols of teaching aspect, such as Banh Phu The or Xu xe or Lo le, it is the auspicious dessert for engagement, wedding ceremony. it cooks for symbolize a long-lasting bond happily.
