Knowledge Dissemination for Generation Z on Preventing Covid-19 and The New Normal by Means of Creative Dance

Abstract

This research aimed 1. To create learning media for disseminating methods for self-protection from the novel coronavirus disease and new normal through creative dance for Generation Z on social media; and 2. To measure their cognition and satisfaction after watching the creative dances from Generation Z on social media. Qualitative research model was mainly used in this research in combination with quantitative research. The sample group consisted of 400 Generation Z. Data was collected between June-September 2021. Data analysis methods were descriptive research, document analysis, and observation analysis, which were used together with basic statistical analysis.

The results revealed that 1. The design and dissemination of prevention methods for novel coronavirus infections and new normal for Generation Z by using creative dance, which is divided into 8 components: acting roles, actors, movement styles, clothing, music, venue, and equipment. The approach based on the knowledge of communication arts in the form of a video published via Facebook was applied in the process of creating and developing creative dance works into online media formats, and 2. Cognitive measurements before and after viewing, as well as satisfaction after viewing, revealed that the cognition before viewing creative dance had a mean of cognition of 15.14 and a mean of cognition of 21.53 after viewing. It was found that the average cognitive scores after viewing the dissemination of knowledge about the prevention of novel coronavirus and new normal for Generation Z by using creative dance on social media was significantly different and higher than before viewing at the.05 level. In addition, it was found that the samples showed overall satisfaction at a mean of 4.90, which is at the highest level.

An interesting result discussion revealed that the design of the style of movement is based on everyday movement as the basis for the design of movement style, as there is a movement style that is easy to understand and not complicated for the accuracy of the important content that needs to be communicated. In addition, it also takes into account the benefits and application of the insights gained from watching people live their lives in order to protect themselves from the new coronavirus infection and to adopt a new way of life.
