Self Development Model in the Critical Situation, Covid-19 According to the Buddhist Moral Code of Peple in Surin Provice

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to study self-development behavior during the COVID-19 crisis according to the Buddhist principles of the people in Surin Province.This research is mixed methods of quantitative research and qualitative research. The sample group consisted of 384 people in Surin Province by Multi-stage Random Sampling and the sample size was determined using the open-grid method of Robert V. Krejcie and Earyle W. Morgan 384 people. Key informants for the in-depth interview were monks and 20 people. Key informants in the group discussion were experts, monks who was the level of the clergy and related persons, a total of 10 people by Purport Sampling.


The results of the research find that
1. Self-development behavior in the Covid-19 crisis according to the Buddhist principles of the people in Surin province, in terms of physical development, moral
development, emotional development, and intellectual development. Overall, it was at a high level in all aspects.
2. Self development model in the critical situation, Covid-19 according to the Buddhist moral code of people in Surin Provice, there are 4 forms: In the aspect of physical development, consisting of taking care of the body to be healthy, eat nutritious food, fresh and cooked food, avoid eating unhealthy food, In the aspect of moral
development, it consists of creating discipline for oneself, strictly following the measures of the state or province; creating something that is beneficial to society. In the aspect of emotional development, it consists strengthening oneself to have various virtues in mind, and strengthening a good mind to have a delicate mind, sacrifice, compassion, love and friendship. In the aspect of intellectual development. It consists of building knowledge and correct understanding of the situation, understanding the causes and factors that will cause infection.
3. Guidelines for self development in the Covid-19 crisis according to the Buddhist principles, for physical and mental development, is to take care of the body to be strong, avoiding unhealthy food, reduce entering the risky area, as the saying "looks, listens, sees value". In the aspect of moral development is to take care of one's relationship with the environment, reduce the risk of infection, avoiding the activities of the masses, as the words " goodwill friendly support ". In emotional development is the practice of compassion, reducing stress, and practicing mindfulness, as in the words "commitment to goodness and virtue". In the aspect of intellectual development does not believe false information knowing as much as the real body, as the saying "Wisdom shines stay wise".
