Abstract

This book review aims to present the method to prove, not just to believe. It was found that the doctrine in Buddhism is to apply the self-practice by following the three levels of Buddhist ethics: 1)Precepts as a tool to eliminate basic defilements which are lust and anger arising from body and verbal acts. These acts are based on moral shame (Hiri) and moral dread (Ottappa) and leaded by Mindfuiness (Sati). 2) Meditation is mind determination to eliminate the medium defilement which is Nivarana arising from mental formation. 3) Wisdom is tool to eliminate the finer defilement which is wrong belief. Practicing these three levels of Buddhist ethics will allow practitioners to receive results for themselves.
