AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF IDDHIPADA APPLICATION IN DUTY PERFORMANCE OF POLICE OFFICERS, THE INVESTIGATION DIVISION, PROVINCIAL POLICE REGION 4

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows: 1) to study Iddhipada 4 in Theravada Buddhist Philosophy, 2) to study duty performance of police officers, the investigation division, Provincial Police Region 4, and 3) to analyze Iddhipada 4 with duty performance of police officers, the investigation division, Provincial Police Region 4. The data were collected from studying Tripitaka, exegesis, books and related documents and questionnaire. 38 police officers were interviewed using In-depth interview.
The results of the research were as follows;
1. Iddhipada 4 is the principle leads to the success including 1) Chanda (Intention) means satisfaction and enthusiasm to work, 2) Viriya (Effort) means perseverance and patience in work, 3) Citta (Consciousness) means focus on the work, and 4) Vimamsa (Investigation) means using wisdom in the work performance. Iddhipada 4 is the dhamma leads to the success and also the dhamma leading to longevity.
2. Police officers- clerk, investigation, and inquiry officers acknowledge the importance of Iddhipada 4 and apply the principle in their duty performance. In conclusion, 1) clerk officers had acknowledged the importance of the principle in high level (95%), 2) investigation officers had acknowledged the importance of the principle in high level (93%), and 3) inquiry officers had acknowledged the importance of the principle in high level (93%).
3. Police officers- clerk, investigation, and inquiry officers successfully applied the principle of Iddhipada 4 in their duty performance. In conclusion, 1) clerk officers had applied the principle in high level (95%), 2) investigation officers had applied the principle in high level (93%), and 3) inquiry officers had applied the principle in high level (93%).
